Someone – now a friend – gave me a wooden chopping board as a gift. It was made of a light wood and had a dedication attached to it. It went like this:
“The chopping board – as a diary – absorbs, accumulates and recalls many meals, many stories. The spices, the juices, the colours, the smells, day by day seeping inside; onion, tomato, garlic, joy, pain … The bread, the cheese, the meal, the family …
the chopping board remembers.”
